Visual theatre
Ulrike Quade Company creates visual theatre. We combine (puppet)play, music, dancing, literature and great scenography. With our puppets, we start with the traditional Bunraku-puppetplay, but we also go beyond these traditions, working with robots, hyperrealistic puppets (seemingly like lifelike copies of the performers) and digital cyborgs.
We aim to bring together new forms of puppetplay with modern technology. Starting from myths and stories from the past we unravel the ‘now.’ This way, we explore the future and shape it as well.
Try-outs 5 & 6 April in De Sloot (Amsterdam)
An intimate theatrical concert in which neo-soul, R&B, hip-hop, and indigenous rhythms come together. Inspired by transformation processes and superhuman perspectives, UNBORN explores themes like death, birth, and the infinite cycle of life with curiosity and reflection.
26 April, Parkheater (Eindhoven)
Inspired by their roots, Gil the Grid and cast members are transported back from Cape Verde to Mali and Senegal. They travel through West African mythes, in search of their original names. Through their dances, puppetplay, rituals and stories, the cast connects itself with the ancestors, roots, and invisible lifeline to the mother continent.
1 May, Frascati (Amsterdam)
Future Stages is the name of a series of talkshows, hosted by Ulrike Quade Company, in which the collaboration between theatre and new technologies takes center stage. Experts present their work (process), explorations and findings.
